A CLEAN MIRROR #selfknowledge#reflect#imageofgod#divinesight#mirror#spiritualdirection

This morning I engaged in a lovely sacred group conversation and reflection on the theme of mirroring. I thought I would invite you to slowly read these reflections several times out loud and ponder and notice what words or phrases sparkle or perhaps mirror back to you divine truth today. I welcome your sharing as a sacred fuller mirroring on this post.

"The important thing is that you find the right mirror that mirrors you honestly and at depth."-Richard Rohr

"For now we see in a mirror, dimly, but then we will see face to face. Now I know only in part; then I will know fully, even as I have been fully known. And now faith, hope, and love abide, these three, and the greatest of these is love." 1 Corinthians 13:12

"If the thinking subject (individual) is the basis for all certainty...then what happens is that the individual is a self enclosed unit...From the very beginning you have the individual enclosed within himself, seeing everything else as an object,(thereby) defining themself by negating others...America likewise assumes that everyone is an individual ...completely separated from everyone else." -Thomas Merton

"Lord, you have examined me and know me. You know everything I do; from far away you understand all my thoughts. You see me, whether I am working or resting; you know all my actions. Even before I speak, you already know what I will say. You are around me on every side; you protect me with your power. Your knowledge of me is too deep; it is beyond my understanding." Psalm139:1-6

"The mission of Jesus was not to begin the Christian religion. His mandate was to reveal and redeem the image and likeness of God in human form." -Mirror Bible, Francois du Toit

"Then God said, And now we will make human beings; they will be like us and resemble us."-Genesis 1:26a

"How clearly the sky reveals God's glory! How plainly it shows what He has done!" Psalm 19:1

"Psalm 23 says, "He leads me beside still waters, and restores my soul" or "by the waters of reflection my soul remembers who I am." Mirror Bible, Francois du Toit

So often when I engage in deep reflection I receive more fullness as time goes on. Often my first thoughts are my default thinking. The surface of my water or mirror is still stirred up and murky. As a contemplative I need daily practice of soaking in God's presence and love to see reality more clearly. These contemplative, settling practices help me clean my mirror so I can see both myself in God's fullness of love but also all of creation as reflecting God's image and reflect back that image in deep gazing, listening and perhaps words."

I enjoy sharing contemplative, mirroring space with others and would welcome you into this space. Feel free to contact me for more information on contemplative online retreats and workshops, individual spiritual direction or a new upcoming monthly zoom 30 minute free guided contemplative practice time starting May 4th at 12:00 EST.

Many Blessings,
